ChatForge (“we”, “the extension”) is a browser extension that lets you organize chats, prompts, and a local history of conversations you open on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok.

1. What we do not do

2. Data stored on your device (local-first)

Almost all ChatForge data stays in this browser, in chrome.storage.local and IndexedDB. It does not leave your computer unless you pay (see §3) or you copy it yourself.

If you save a chat or a prompt, or we index a conversation you opened, we may store locally:

Data Why
Conversation URL and platform (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok) Identify the chat and open it again
Title and a short preview taken from the page Show the row in the workspace and History
Folder name, parent folder, and which chat sits in which folder Organization you asked for
Prompt title, body, and {{variable}} names Prompt library
Settings (theme, whether the page icon is shown, whether History is paused, plan flag) Preferences
Timestamps (created / updated / last seen) Sort and “x ago” labels
A dismissed marker on History rows you hide So an open tab does not put that row back

The extension reads this from the visible page on supported LLM sites (title, URL, a short preview). It does not upload the full chat transcript to us. Full-text indexing of chat bodies is not shipped yet.

Uninstalling ChatForge, or clearing this browser’s site/extension data, deletes that local store. We cannot recover it.

3. Data processed when you pay (third parties)

Payments are handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) and Stripe (stripe.com). We never see your card number.

If you upgrade to Pro, those services typically process:

We use that paid/unpaid status only to enable Pro features (unlimited folders and unlimited History). We do not get a copy of your chat content as part of checkout.

Their policies (read these if you pay):

Stripe may use cookies and similar technologies on its hosted checkout and customer portal for fraud prevention, authentication, and operating the payment service.

4. Permissions (what the browser lets the extension touch)

ChatForge asks for:

We do not request access to your full browsing history.

5. Legal bases (EEA / UK)

If GDPR or UK GDPR applies:

6. How long we keep data

7. Your choices

If you are in the EEA/UK, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data that we hold. For ChatForge, that is mainly the email and billing identity sitting with ExtensionPay/Stripe, not your local chat list. Write to robert.liberski.1993@gmail.com. For data held only by Stripe or ExtensionPay, you may need to contact them as well.

8. Children

ChatForge is not directed at children under 16. Do not use it if you are under 16.

9. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how data is handled, we will update the “Last updated” date and the public URL. Chrome Web Store policy also requires us to tell users when data practices change after install — we will do that in the listing or an in-extension notice when it applies.

10. Contact

ChatForge is operated by an individual developer.

Limited Use (Chrome Web Store)

ChatForge complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User data is used only to provide and improve the disclosed single purpose of the extension: a local workspace for organizing LLM chats and prompts. We do not use that data to train models, build unrelated profiles, or sell it to data brokers.
